After more than a decade working in and with marketing agencies, I felt it was time to start my own venture and put my time into advocating for and providing solutions that people actually need and taking a stand against misleading practices, both to other businesses and to their customers. I believe in enthusiastic consent. No doesn’t mean “convince me.” If you want to employ manipulating tactics or dark patterns to trick your customers into buying your product, I’m not your guy. If you’re thinking, “yes, finally,” let’s talk.
I got my start in the industry as a graphic designer and quickly absorbed a wide variety of skills in the agency world through collaboration with my colleagues and friends. The biggest shift for me was when I went into Front End Development and began treating it like any other design tool. This also gave me the ability to serve as a liaison between designers and developers since I could do both. As I worked with a variety of clients and industries and received a ton of feedback at all stages, and detecting patterns in how people interact with my work, I became more focused on User Experience.
A few years into my career I made the switch from being a unicorn and doing everything to working as a Front End Developer on a team with a dedicated back end developer and a dedicated UI designer. While my role was a lot more focused than before, I still wanted to learn about everything. The closer I worked with the back end developer, the more I learned. I began working on back end development myself, still employing best User Experience practices for the people administering the website in the back end.
Fast forward to today, I build websites from concept to launch. I take a collaborative approach in everything I do so when I have you as a client, I’ll keep you involved every step of the way so there are no surprises. When you’re working with me, I’m in your corner. I’ll give you my best advice, even if you don’t like what I have to say. And I’m not afraid to say no to a bad idea (I will tell you why and offer an alternative, though).
